Last night, February 16, 2023, the Junior High Pirate Track team competed in their first Meet of the season. It was safe to say the boys were battling adversity before the Meet had gotten underway. They had to mentally adjust to the quick relocation of arenas, as well as physically adjust to an instant and drastic change in the dropping weather from the beginning of the week!
With adversity setting in, the boys began to go work and come out strong! There were multiple top 5 finishes in the field and running events throughout the night. The following list of accolades were accumulated all last night:

- Nathan Garza - 1st place

- Jayden Motes – 1st
- Weston Jackson – 2nd
- Kash Friesenhahn – 4th

- Kash Friesenhahn – 3rd
Shotput:

*Mason Hill took 1st place with a throw of 137’, which put his throw only 7 feet away from breaking the school record. Be on the lookout for him to set a new record here next week at the Lytle Relays.

It was a productive and successful Meet for the 8th Grade boys. They set the bar pretty high for themselves, but look forward to building off of it next week here at our very own Lytle Relays. We hope to see you out there supporting us.
Thank you and Go Pirates!
