3-4-2023 Varsity Tennis at Pleasanton Tournament

The Varsity Tennis athletes fought through a long day to bring home their own hardware today, March 4, 2023. Chessa Hartley-Mapes is the Girls Singles Consolation Champion. Amanda Soto and Hector Anaya won 3rd in the main draw. Matthew De La Fuente and Yandel Esquivez are the Boys Doubles Consolation Champions.

The other players had their own dramatic effects; Nathaniel Armendariz lost to Crystal City’s number one Boys Singles player, who I’m sure will be in the finals at District in a few weeks, hopefully with a different outcome. Michelle Davis had a walk over in the Girls Singles Finals after becoming overheated. Cambri Davila and Lola Patino showed great strength in coming back from a large deficit against a very strong Poth Girls Doubles pair. They fell short, but an 8-6 score is easier to swallow than an 8-0.

I am extremely proud of all the players and am looking forward to next week's Somerset Tournament where we will see many of our competitors for District.

There are so many great things going on at Lytle High School. I’m proud to be a part of this wonderful place; Powerlifting going to Regionals, Boys Basketball making the Elite 8, Baseball and Softball have a strong start to their season, and, of course, we couldn’t be prouder of our own Tennis team.

Not to mention all the Academic and other UIL events happening and exceeding.

LHS is busy and bustling with great pride!
