4-5-2023 Lady Pirate Softball vs Hondo

The Lady Pirates picked up a dramatic WIN vs Hondo last Friday night, April 3, 2023. Elysa Aleman was the deciding factor as she produced a homerun in the 5th to tie it 3-3 and then a walk off double that scored Alyssa Montalvo to win the game.

Hondo started the 1st inning with a single, 2 walks, and a fielder's choice that resulted in 1 run for the Owls. The Pirates left 2 on base, to end the inning 0-1.

In the 2nd inning, Hondo scored 2, advancing runners with a sac fly and a sac bunt and an error from Lytle. Lytle was able to answer back when Giselle Esparza hit the ball to right field and Montalvo scored off an error, score 1-3.

3 up 3 down for the Pirates defensively but scoreless in the 3rd. The Pirates defense did not allow another run for the Hondo Owls the rest of the game.

With 2 outs in the 4th, Bree Criswell hit the ball to right field and scored Addison Criado off a Hondo error, scoring 2-3.

In the 5th, Moriah Gomez reaches on an error but then is called out on a debatable call as she tried to steal 3rd. On the next pitch, Elysa Aleman hit a beautiful shot over centerfield for a solo homerun to tie the game 3-3.

The 6th inning only allowed 1 hit for both Hondo and Lytle with the score remaining 3-3.

The 7th inning started with Hondo getting 2 girls on but a pop up to catcher Natalie Pacheco gave the Lytle the 1st out. To end the inning, Montalvo charged a hard grounder to centerfield, then then threw the runner out who was advancing to score, followed by Pacheco firing the ball to 3rd baseman, Anissa Perez, who tagged the runner out for a nice double play to end the inning. Again with 2 outs, Montalvo singled with a hard shot to centerfield and Aleman’s double with a line drive to left field. Montalvo scored, winning the game 4-3.
