4-6-2023 Lady Pirate Softball vs Crystal City

Crystal City was no match for the Lady Pirates as they earned the win in 5 innings last night, April 5, 2023, 14-1. Addison Criado earned the victory as she pitched all 5 innings, giving up only 2 hits and striking out 3, while Anissa Perez aided her behind the plate. Offensively, the Pirates had 7 singles, 2 doubles, and a solo homerun by Natalie Pacheco. 

The Pirates are now 3-2 in the District and 14-10-1 overall.  

In the 1st inning, Alyssa Montalvo walked. Moriah Gomez reached on an error and Montalvo scored. Giselle Esparza’s sac fly brought in Gomez and Pacheco hit a solo homerun. Defense goes 3 up, 3 down, score 3-0. 

During the 2nd inning, Criado was safe on an error, Bree Criswell hit and Criado scored. Defense with 2 outs allowed a single but the next batter flew out to right fielder, Sevier. Score was 4-0 

In the 3rd inning, Elysa Aleman reached on an error, Pacheco walked, Perez hit a double, scoring Aleman. Pacheco and Perez scored on errors by the pitcher and catcher. The fielder's choice puts a runner on 3 who scores off an error. The score was 7-1. 

In the 4th inning, Montalvo scored off a throwing error, Gomez doubled, and Aleman’s single scored Gomez. Pacheco singled to score Aleman and Perez’s single scored Pacheco. Criswell singled to score Perez.  

After a single by the first batter, the next 2 batters were thrown out by 3rd baseman, Pacheco, and 2nd baseman, Danica Martinez. The last out was caught by shortstop Gomez and the score was 12-1. 

In the 5th and final inning, Montalvo singled and Aleman was hit by a pitch. Cheyenne Martinez laid down a sac bunt, advancing the runners. Montalvo and Aleman scored on errors. The defense held them. The final score was 14-1.
