4-12-2023 2023 Tennis Season Closes

Another season has ended. Senior Cambri Davila and Junior Lola Patino were the lone representatives of Lytle at this year’s Regional Tournament in Kerrville, April 12, 2023. Ironically, we made it to Regionals with one divisional team, which was a repeat from last year.

These two ladies played hard and had some great victories in several big school tournaments throughout the season. Monday, they played the team that had been their nemesis since last year, who were also seeded 2nd overall in the Region. Although they gave a valiant effort, they lost 4-6,4-6, they left the court upset that they couldn’t overcome this team, but more so that their partnership had ended. Cambri plans to continue her educational path at the University of Texas in Austin. I wish her well.

I would like to express my thanks to Assistant Coach, Jackie Bohl Hans. She is learning increasingly about tennis and for me it is a treat to have her ask questions while finding her own answers. She has been a fantastic addition to our team, and I couldn’t be more blessed to have her with us.

We would like to especially thank our parents and administration; athletic and academic. We couldn’t have our kids out on the court if they weren’t students here and in good standing. We know we have had several people come to watch us this year, and although it doesn't look like we are doing much, as it isn’t your average competitive environment with yelling and loud cheering, it is a sport that is very physical and mental. Tennis is an individual sport and athletes must keep their composure and stay in the game. It is hard when you are down 0-4, but our kids try and feel better when they give their full effort.

When you see Lola, please give her your full support in all she does. She is a splendid example of hard work and determination. When you see Cambri, please wish her well in her future endeavors and let them both know they have a family here too.
