The Lady Pirates earned the title Bi-District Champions last night, April 27, 2023, as they beat Poteet 2-1. Going into the top of the 7th, the score was tied 1-1. Addison Criado gets walked and is able to steal 2 bases. With the lead run at 3rd and 1 out, Calyssa Sevier hit a ball to right field, scoring Criado and, thanks to bad throws, was able to get to 3rd. Moriah Gomez and Natalie Pacheco led the defense in the 7th. Gomez struck out the 1st batter, Sevier caught a pop up, and then, to end the game, Gomez struck out the 3rd batter while Pacheco caught behind the plate.
Thank you all for attending. We could not have asked for a better crowd. The stands and fence lines were full. The girls and coaches appreciate all the signs, cheering and especially the cowbells we saw and heard last night. It really does make a difference.
The girls will play for Area next week versus the defending State Champs Hallettsville. Time and location will be shared once it is finalized.
