On July 15, 2023, a few weeks ago, in Houston, Coach Ruiz was honored for his State Cross Country Championship and presented with a State ring. He was also recognized in front of a room filled with so many State Champions, Elite Coaches and Athletic Directors. It was my honor to escort him to the banquet for the night. He did not smile in any of the pictures I got of him, but believe me, he was smiling throughout the banquet. Coach Ruiz deserves all the recognition. Congratulations to the State Cross Country boys, their staff and most of all, Coach Ruiz! It was a night we will remember forever! It was a great night for Lytle, Texas. Go Pirates!
