On Friday, September 1, 2023, the Lytle Pirate Football team went head-to-head with John F. Kennedy Rockets. What a night it was for "our team" and "our town"!
The game began with Kennedy returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown, which put us behind fast, 7-0. But our culture of "Dig Deep" continued to carry us the entire night.
We had energy, effort, and enthusiasm on full display throughout the entire game.
We were able to put up a score just before the first half ended on a touchdown pass from 56 yards out that tied the game at 7-7. We had an opportunity to go up 10-7 as our defense forced a turnover right before halftime, but we hooked it left, and didn't add a field goal.
In the second half, we continued to battle up and down the field; we never backed down! One thing I always share with the kids is this message...."The Tougher It Gets; The Harder We Play" and they each brought their shovel to "DIG"!
Defensively, we ended the night not giving up a score and have continued to keep teams off the scoreboard. Coach Freddie Martinez and the defensive staff have done a phenomenal job getting our boys primed and prepped each week.
Offensively, we were able to put up another touchdown on a 48-yard pass that pretty much sealed the victory!
The "Love" and "Leadership" displayed on Friday Night were unreal. These boys love each other. They lead each other. They listen to each other. They "DIG" together!

We will now travel to South San ISD Stadium this upcoming Friday, September 8, 2023, at 7:00pm to face off against West Campus Cougars.
We couldn't thank our community enough for the continued support. The stands on Friday Night at an away game was a beautiful sight to see. We ask that you keep bringing your best for our kids; they deserve every bit of success!
