Yesterday afternoon, September 14, 2023, the Junior Varsity Pirates took on the Natalia Mustangs and it was a smash-mouth football game from the very beginning. The Pirates took the opening kickoff to the house, which gave the Pirates an early 8-0 lead. Unfortunately, those would be the only points the Pirates would put on the scoreboard. Yesterday's football game was a good old defensive battle for both teams. Our defense played lights out and had the Mustangs struggling to move the ball all game. The Pirate offense struggled all game, moving the ball and giving up a pick 6 to the opponent. Although this game wasn't flashy with a lot of big plays, I believe these boys were taught a huge lesson about what it takes to "Dig Deep" when it gets tough. Thank you to all who came out to support the Junior Varsity Pirates. Also, thank you to all the staff for everything you do for these young men. Next week, we will be taking on the Pearsall Mavericks for the second time this year. GO PIRATES!
