10-5-2023 If You Missed the Citizens of Art Gallery Exhibit Opening Night in Lytle, It's Not Too Late!

The Citizens of Art gallery exhibition of work by Lytle High School art students had a very successful opening night last Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Southbound Markets Building on Lytle's main street. Take a look at the photo album to see some of the 41 pieces that Ms. Morgan Clyde's students completed and offered for sale. Four were sold and five student commissions were requested by the end of the first night of the exhibit.

Art student Nathanial Miller shares his experience preparing for the show, “I was surprised that my art was put into the show because I didn’t think anyone would want to buy what I drew. But my piece has a lot of meaning - I included the open door to represent the importance of family, so I’m very proud of it.”

Another student artist, Jeimy Rojas, talks about her process, “I had kind of a hard time choosing what I wanted, and once I found out that it was going to be displayed it made me panic a little. But I worked hard and used a new technique. My piece was supposed to represent texture, so it’s kind of bumpy with a mix of pastels and some darker colors. I hope someone likes it.”

If you missed the opening event, it's not too late to see and buy some art! All works range from $25-$50 and will be on display and available for purchase until next Wednesday, October 11, 2023. Proceeds benefit the high school art department, helping students like Nathanial and Jeimy to have the supplies needed to continue their learning.
