"Broken Pieces into Masterpieces"

Our message heading into Poteet was clear; it was about us gathering ourselves, connecting and committing more towards each other to refuel, restructure, revive, and restore!

We are faced with challenges in every aspect of our life, and some times we don't know battles that others are facing. When we face our own battles on and off the field, we stay off the results and stay on each other. These boys have embraced that approach, and that's what led to Poteet last Friday Night. With this being the 1st District game, these boys knew, regardless of records, it was a new season.....it's "Championship Phase" season! We lean on our "love and leadership" approach daily, and our "Dig Deep" culture daily, and that's what led to 1-0 last week to begin District play.

Defensively, the Pirats held Poteet to under 100 yards of total offense and created 6 turnovers. Offensively, some strides weren made in the 2nd  half after making some adjustments at halftime and began to get into a rhythm. Kicker #9 Marcos Alvarado was clutch in hitting 4 of 5 field goals, scoring 12 points by himself, that provided  breathing room on the scoreboard. The Pirates were able to score a touchdown late in the game to push the lead to 19-6; Poteet's only score came on the opening kickoff in the 2nd half as they returned it for a touchdown.

It's been an unbelievable journey so far this season! The story continues to be written each week. The broken pieces  are surely turning into masterpieces one step at a time. Trials and tribulations are a part of creating success, and we invite "hard" things into our program because everything we want is on the other side of "hard"; we don't want it to be easy.

Final Score:
Lytle 19 - Poteet 6

Overall Record: 5-1, 1-0

We head down to face off vs Hondo in our 2nd District match up on Friday, Oct 13, 2023 with Kickoff set for 7:00pm. We are the "Hill Country Nation" Game of the Week.

We love the continued support each week and thank you for continuing to "love and lead" our students every day! God Bless!
