The Cross Country team made the long trip down to Corpus on Saturday, September 16, 2023, to participate in the Islander Splash and get a small preview of the Regional Meet that will be held in late October.
We had all the girls run the Medium-Small Girls 2-mile Division. We didn't have a particularly good day except for a very few girls. Frances Scotello finished 3rd in probably her best run of the season. We showed our youth on Saturday, and we hope we got it out of our system so when we hopefully return in October, we will have a much better showing.
The boys had 2 of their top 5 not run on Saturday but still managed to win the Medium-Small Boys 5K. They ran the last race during the hottest time but still managed to get 4 in the top 15.
The team will be split up this week. The Varsity will head to Round Rock on Friday morning, September 22, 2023, for the HOKA/McNeil Invitational. It will be our last BIG test as the boys will run early in the 4A Division at 8:30am against, we hope, the #2, 3, 5, 6, 7 and #10 teams in 4A. The girls will run the 1-3A right after against, we hope, 4 of the top 10 in 3A (#1,2,7 & 10).
The Junior Varsity and Junior High will run on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the River City Invitational.
