4-21-2022 Varsity Softball Recap
Last Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the girls were defeated in 8 innings against Dilley. Even though Lytle had 13 hits, our errors and Dilley’s 20 hits earned them the victory. Leading the offense were Calyssa Sevier, Natalie Pacheco, and Moriah Gomez. Each had multiple hits. Sevier also hit one over the fence with a runner on. Moriah Gomez took the loss for the Pirates. She went eight innings, allowing 11 runs on 20 hits, striking out 7 and walking zero with Natalie Pacheco behind the plate.
Lytle 6 – Dilley 11
The Pirates defeated the Aggies last Thursday, April 14, 2022. In the first inning, Lytle got their offense started with a solo homerun by Moriah Gomez and then scored 3 more. 1 run was earned in the 4th and another 4 runs were counted in the 5th inning. The remaining runs were earned in the 7th and the girls were able to hold them to take the win. Lytle’s offense was led by Danica Martinez, Natalie Pacheco, Eliza Molina, Moriah Gomez, Calyssa Sevier and Addison Criado, who each had multiple hits for the Pirates. Nayelli Pacheco also contributed to runs batted in. As a team, they collected 14 hits and 14 stolen bases.
Lytle 11 – Poteet 5
Gomez was the winning pitcher. She gave up two runs on four hits over four innings, striking out six and walking one. Criado started the game and surrendered three runs on five hits over three innings, walking one. Natalie Pacheco was behind the plate for both pitchers.
The girls shut out Karnes City in 5 innings.
Addison Criado threw a gem on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, allowing zero runs on two hits over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Lytle got on the board in the first inning when Natalie Pacheco tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Pacheco scored on a catcher's error. In the 2nd inning, another hit by Pacheco scored 2. Two singles by Calyssa Sevier and Kaylee Diaz scored 2 more. The top of the 4th produced 5 more runs for the Pirates. Alyssa Montalvo and Nayelli Pacheco led the RBIs with their singles, making the score now 12-0. The last run came in the top of 5 with Sevier’s fly out.
