9-16-2019 JV Football vs. Natalia
Last Thursday, September 12th, the JV football team took a mini road trip down to Natalia to take on the Mustangs.
Unfortunately, it wasn't a road trip worth celebrating...
"Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful." - Zig Ziglar
The two weeks prior to the Natalia game have been extremely energetic and enthusiastic, with the JV starting the season with 2 consecutive wins. But last week had other plans of its own. With a stacked Natalia JV team, our student-athletes were outmatched by size, strength, and speed.
First offensive series of the game, Natalia drove the ball down 60 yards controlling the line of scrimmage, using their power run game, and scoring the first Touchdown of the game, including the 2-point conversion, which gave them the lead 8-0.
On Lytle's first offensive series, they opened up with a little bit of trickery, with a double pass from Collin Aldridge to Malakai Castro, then from Castro to Robert Wagner who was wide open down the field and scampered 50 yards down the sideline before he was caught by a Natalia defensive player.
That's pretty much the highlight of our game, in which that same play connected for the same amount of yardage in the 2nd half, but the offense could not capitalize to get into the end zone.
Natalia forced turnovers, multiple 3 and outs, and put up a lot of points on the scoreboard.
Defensively, for the Pirates it was a test we just couldn't pass last week.
The effort will never be doubted by these young men, and the loss hurts, but it's a lesson we all must face through sports, but most importantly through life!
How will these young men respond after a tough loss to their rival? We will see in our next match on the gridiron.
Thank you for the continued support and sacrifices made for these young men, as they will continue to make their community proud each week.
The JV Pirates take a tough loss to the Mustangs from Natalia, 62-0.
Season record: 2-1
