The girls beat Hallettsville, 85-69, on Friday night, February 17, 2023, in a packed Seguin gym to become Area Champions. They are moving on to the 3rd round of playoffs, the Regional Quarterfinals. We had a rough night shooting and we were 32-68, but the crazy part is we still scored 85 points. We will need to make some changes to our press this week because a lot of teams have watched us, so that will be our main focus. We only had 15 steals but we scored 60 points in the paint. The girls were only up by 6 at the half. So, they had to battle back and that is just what they did. They outscored Hallettsville 20-13 in the 4th quarter to take the win. These girls showed a lot of heart and determination on Friday night. They definitely do not want their season ending anytime soon. We have to stay focused and play one game at a time.

• Calyssa Sevier led the team with a double-double of 26 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, 10 deflections and 9 steals.
• Katara Whitfield had a season high with 22 points, 7 rebounds, 9 assists and 2 deflections.
• Cadee Martinez had 18 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 deflections and 1 steal.
• Fizz Hutton contributed 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 deflections and 3 steals.
• Amelia Martinez had 1 steal.
• Mac Sessom had 2 rebounds, 1 deflection and 1 steal.
