2-8-2023 Varsity Girls Basketball Goes 10-0 in District Play.
What a night in Lytle last night, February 7, 2023! We had a playoff atmosphere with a packed gym and some were even standing. The Lytle community really came out to support both teams. I remember the girls saying, “Man, it's already packed. Usually, it is not like this until the halftime of our game.” We started out slow on defense and missed some easy layups in the first quarter. We were up by 11 at the half. We regrouped and focused on the things we needed to execute in the 2nd half. Calyssa Sevier hit a half-court shot at the end of the 2nd quarter. We had a big 3rd quarter, outscoring Crystal City 18-4 with 26 steals and making Crystal City commit 29 turnovers. When the game finished, the scoreboard read 68-32 and we reached another goal, a perfect 10-0 record for District play. We are also 24-10 for the season. The real season starts for us on Monday, February 13, 2023, as we take on Karnes City. The girls have been working so hard and will continue to do so.

We celebrated our Seniors and recognized Zoey for all the signs she has made for Athletics. We truly appreciate her. Congrats to the boys for their District Championship. It was awesome for both teams to celebrate and cut down the nets together with family and friends and the community! It was a great night to be a Pirate! Go Pirates!
