2-6-2023 Varisty Girls Basketball is the 3-Peat District Champs!
The girls clinched the District Title on Friday night, February 3, 2023, in Hondo in front of a packed gym. The girls made history once again by winning the title three years in a row. This group is one of a kind and we are so proud of them. Their hard work has definitely paid off. We beat Hondo 79-51. We actually started off slow and were only up by 10 at the half. We got into foul trouble and lost Amelia and Fizz in the 4th because of fouls. We scored 22 points in transition and 29 points off Hondo’s turnovers. We only had 14 steals as our press was off Friday night and that is definitely something we will work on before we start the playoffs next week. We had a great 3rd quarter, outscoring Hondo 25-5.
We will play Crystal City on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, here in Lytle and celebrate our Seniors in their last home game before the playoffs. Special thanks to Lorri Migura for the amazing banner. The girls are 9-0 in District and looking to finish 10-0 and are 23-10 for the season. The girls are Ranked #21 by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and #9 for Texas High School Girls Basketball (TXHSGBB). We will face either Karnes City or West Campus in the first round of the playoffs. Details should be coming soon.
