Yesterday, March 4th, the tennis team traveled to Jourdanton to participate in their Varsity tournament. We moved up all Junior Varsity to Varsity for this week as the Junior Varsity division had too many teams. I was proud of our Junior Varsity athletes as they were a bit intimidated playing up against Juniors and Seniors but they all played well and had some great moments during their matches.
The day began with a big moment for our tennis team as Kyle Mueller made his season debut following his season ending injury during Cross Country at the Regional Meet. Kyle has been a huge part of our program for the previous 3 years and seeing him finally back on the court was an awesome sight. Kyle played well and finished 2-2 for the day.
Our #1 boys’ singles, Zachary Bradshaw finished 2-2 on the day and lost in the 3rd place match in a 3-set tiebreaker, this was a great tournament for both of these boys as they faced some great competition from Randolph and Poteet.
The boys’ doubles team of Diego Rangel and Michael Tomlinson played in their second tournament together and the chemistry is starting to build. They finished 3-1 on the day and won 3rd place overall.
