Last night, December 16, 2021, the Pirates took on the "Red Team" from Jourdanton as Coach Clark refers to them. To start the night the B team battled back and forth. The Pirates got down early as Jourdanton applied pressure every possession and forced some early turnovers. Down six points to start the half, the boy's energy and effort didn't sway as they battled their way back to come within two points of the score. Turnovers in the 4th quarter would eventually cause the boys to have the game slip away, however, their spirit never fell and they battled till the final buzzer.  

B Team: Jourdanton 16 – Lytle 7  

Coming off an overtime nail-biter last week, the A team was excited and anxious to get back on the court to keep up the momentum they had. Facing a tough and fast-paced Jourdanton team, the boys were put to the test early on, our offense was met with a ton of pressure from tip-off! After some shaky shooting and missed opportunities, the boys were able to ride the early wave of adversity, and rely on our tough fast pace defense to get us on the offensive end of the court. Going into the second half with three points up, the boys were ready to continue fighting for the next two quarters. Jourdanton pressed, forced some turnovers, and scored shots of their own. Aback and forth game before we took over and our pressure became overwhelming for the Indians. We forced multiple possession turnovers in a row that led to fast break points for the Pirates going to the free throw line. In the end, our energy and effort are what fueled our defense to this huge win over a very good team heading into the break! The boys put in a lot of hard work Monday - Wednesday mornings and it is definitely reflecting on Thursday nights!
