9-8-20203 Junior High Volleyball at Crystal City

On September 7, 2023 the Lady Pirates Junior High volleyball team traveled the long road to Crystal City. A special thank you and shout out to Armando Esquibel for providing us with an air-conditioned bus; once again, we found ourselves in another gym without air conditioning. Crystal City was very apologetic, they, like many, were dealing with hot temperatures and ACs were working overtime.

The Ladies were tired after the long drive, and it affected how we played. All teams started flat, the temperature did not help, and they had a play defense early.

The sets were as follows:

  • 7th Grade B-Team won in straights with Autumn Foster as a high server with 14 straight service points.
  • 8th Grade B-Team lost in straight sets, but these ladies fought hard and had no substitutions.
  • 7th Grade A-Team won in split sets, exemplary defense player Emma Fernandez, who is finding herself a power net player.
  • 8th Grade A-Team lost in straight sets, but Mia Rollins moved up to A-Team this week and  had some great serves along with Faciola Jimenez who is making a name for herself and moved up to play on A-Team.

These ladies worked hard and will finally play at home next Monday! Please come out and enjoy watching them and cheer them on as we play Hondo.

Again, thank you to all the parents and family who traveled the long ride to Crystal City and who sit in these hot gyms to support these teams.
