Yesterday evening, January, 27, 2022, the Junior High Pirates took on Karnes City for our last home game of the season.   The boys started off slow, but after settling down, they put pressure on Karnes City with their stellar defense and high-flying offense. The boys did an excellent job of coming out strong in the second half & distributing the ball as they put out a 22-point third quarter! It was a great showing of teamwork, energy, and effort all around from this young talented group of young men!

  • 1-27-2022 Lytle ISD Thanks our School Board Trustees!

At the last School Board meeting on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Lytle staff, students, and community members worked together to show our School Board Trustees just how much they mean to us and our district. The evening started with an early formal dinner served by Chef Stewart's and Micah Berchelmann's culinary students. All enjoyed a beautiful spring mix salad with cranberry vinaigrette dressing, a savory cup of carrot dill soup, an entree of bacon-wrapped meatloaf, sautéed green beans, mashed potatoes in mushroom sauce, a hot roll and iced tea. Everyone raved about the meal and the excellent service from those who waited on tables and refilled teas. To top off the meal, students served Chef's award-winning dessert, a coffee chocolate cupcake with an espresso ganache. Students did a fantastic job and a few who were pulling double duty as cheerleaders quickly changed out of their service jackets into cheer uniforms to do their job in the gym at the basketball game that same evening.

  • 1-26-2022 Girls Beat Poteet, Parents Night, and the Best Birthday!

What a night in Lytle last night, January 25, 2022. The girls picked up another wonderful TEAM win, beating Poteet! We scored on all 29 turnovers Poteet made, scored 32 points in the paint, and had 17 steals. At the half, we were up 34-13. We did a fantastic job coming out in the 3rd and scoring 15. We had been struggling the last few games in the 3rd quarter, but not last night. The one thing we must do a better job of is shooting free throws! The girls all got great minutes that will help as we prepare for two big games next week! We need both wins to return as District Champs! We will not be in action until Tuesday, February 1, as we travel to Cotulla to face a good squad!

  • 1-24-2022 Varsity Boys Basketball vs Jourdanton

This past Friday night, January 21, 2022, the Pirates took on the Jourdanton Indians and won 80-48. From the tip-off, the Pirates defense was on full display. The defensive pressure from baseline to baseline was the best it's been all season. Every dribble, every pass made by a Jourdanton player was suffocated by two pirates constantly, pressing all game.

  • 1-24-2022 Varsity Girls Beat Jourdanton!

The girls got a big win in Jourdanton on Friday night, January 21, 2022, scoring 75 points and holding Jourdanton to only 30! Another great TEAM win in spite of still being down a starter, and Rose Scotello played her best game of the year! The last few weeks we have been short players and someone has always stepped up and shined, but Friday was Rose’s night! As a team, we scored 34 points off turnovers and scored 48 points in the paint. We had 26 steals and made Jourdanton commit 43 turnovers. Everyone played and got great minutes and that will definitely help in the postseason. The girls remain in 1st place but have four more games to go! • 1-20-2022 8th Grade Boys Basketball vs Cotulla

Last night, January 19, 2022, in what became a very shortened week due to the holiday and inclement weather schedule shift, the 8th Grade boys' basketball team took on the Cotulla Cowboys. The boy's plan was simple: give a ton of energy and effort on the defensive end and it would translate to points on the offensive end. From tipoff, pressure was applied that forced Cotulla into early turnovers and let us get into our offensive sets. On the offensive end, we kept their defense moving around chasing the ball with some good passing and ball movement, which led to open shots that were falling for us almost all night!

  • 1-19-2022 Girls Varsity Beats Natalia

The girls beat Natalia last night, January 18, 2022, in a packed gym 55-51. It was down to the wire with this game! We were missing Nicole Godines and Fizz Hutton and it hurt us on the defensive side with our press, but Katara Whitfield, Rose Scotello, and Kaylee Diaz stepped up and gave us some great minutes to fill those spots. We were up 15-8 at the end of the 1st and looked good, besides complaints that it was super-hot! Everything was going our way and at the half, we were up 29-16. However, in the last few games, the 3rd quarter has not been our best.
