October 28, 2021, no matter what that Red Team tried our boys were having none of it! The Red team scheduled another game prior to our originally scheduled game. What they did not figure is that our Gold Team was up to the challenge and shut them out 14-0. Our defense was relentless and offense played hard.

In the longest match in the history of Lytle volleyball, with a time of two hours and forty minutes, the Pirates secured the win over the Cougars 5 sets (3-2). Our Pirates won the first set, lost set 2 and set 3 and with great teamwork won set 4 and set 5 with some great serves from #14 Gonzalez, #10 Scotello, #1 Lopez, #3 Sprenger, #6 Diaz, and #15 Granato and some great digs from #3 Sprenger, #4 Patino, #12 Garcia, and #2 Martinez. At one point in the match, the game was so intense, I felt a little light-headed…

  • 10-26-2021 Lytle Pirate Cross Country at Corpus - Region IV-3A Meet

What a wonderful day yesterday! What an amazing race by Natalie Williams who set a PR (Personal Record) in hot and humid conditions. Again, someone else stepped up to fill the void when others were having a hard time. Natalie became only the third girl in the last 20+ years to finish in the top 10 and get a Regional medal (Natalie Cortez 3rd in '13 and Clarissa Cantu 9th in '18). All the girls finished in the top 35 (out of 179 runners) to help them claim our first Regional Championship and a trip to the State Meet on November 5th (Homecoming Day). This is an amazing group of girls that can handle being coached hard and never take things personally.

  • 10-24-2021 Pirate Band Area Update

Yesterday, October 23, 2021, the Pirate Band set sail for their 3rd consecutive trip to the UIL Area Marching Competition. After an overwhelming sendoff including a police escort and lots of support from our Pirate Band Family, we traveled through fog and rain to Beeville. The band competed against 29 other 1st division marching bands with one unifying goal in mind, to perform their best so far. This incredibly talented group of students did not let us down, they left everything on the field, including new visuals and marching drill that had not been performed at a competition before. (They learned them all in less than 1 week!) It was by far the band's best performance this year!

  • 10-21-2021 Lytle Lady Pirates at their Best!

We would like to recognize the awesome Lady Pirates athletes with the 2021 first 9 weeks cycle all “A” and all “AB” Honor Roll! The coaches and girls put a lot into doing their job both in the classroom and in their athletic competition. Our volleyball teams are young and getting better every week. Cross Country is doing what they always do and that is bringing home trophies with another District title and about to bring home Regionals. Basketball, last year’s District Champs are getting ready to unleash their run for Number 1. None of this could be possible if they didn’t take care of business in the classroom first! Congratulations ladies!

  • 10-20-2021 Varsity Volleyball at Natalia

On Tuesday October 19, 2021, the Pirates traveled up the road to compete against the Mustangs on Natalia. The Pirates came out and played with a lot of heart and desire. I have never been prouder of these young ladies. We started strong in the first two sets with the score looking like a Yo-Yo, moving up and down as we played our hearts out! As we lost to the Mustangs in three sets. I must say the score did not reflect their performance! The Pirates had some amazing defensive digs from Martinez, Patino, Lopez, and Sprenger and hits from Gonzalez, Diaz, and Scotello to keep our Pirates in the match.

  • 10-18-2021 Pirate Band gets 4th Consecutive 1st Division!

Saturday, October 16, 2021, the Fighting Pirate Band did it again, earning their 4th consecutive Marching Band First Division! To say I’m proud of these kids is a major understatement, they have really stepped up to the challenge, and they left everything they had out on the field. The support from our community, our Athletic Teams, and Administration was amazing as well; with multiple members of the football team in attendance to show their love for the Pirate Band. I am so incredibly proud to be a Lytle Pirate, and I’m super happy to have such an amazing staff of MJ Robles, Jason Keown, and Bertie Salazar, as well as all the people that support us in the district.

  • 10-18-2021 Pirate Football vs Cole

Last Friday, October 16, 2021, the Pirate Varsity Football team took on the Cole Cougars in the fourth game of District Play. Our team continues to improve and after a hard-fought first half, the score was 15-7 heading into half time. Offensively, Junior Running Back/Linebacker Deven Caldera led the offense on the ground with 136 rushing yards on 27 carries. Junior Defensive Back/Running Back Albert Aguilar chipped in an additional 38 yards rushing on 8 carries. Up front, our offensive line of Jacob Guevara, Kasen Boyd, Elijiah Ramirez, Elias Hernandez and new starter Hector Anaya did an excellent job of opening holes for our ground game to flourish.

  • 10-18-2021 Varsity Volleyball vs Dilley

Friday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2021, we hosted the Dilley Wolves in an exciting 3 set match. The Pirates started the set with some receiving errors but were able to clean it up. Unfortunately, we could not take this set and lost. The next two sets our Pirates played with more determination and made the game exciting. The Pirates had some great saves, passes, sets, and kills that had the crowd at the edge of their seats. The Pirates lose to the Wolves in three sets. I am proud of these young ladies; they have displayed determination and have had to deal with adversities but they are still here and giving their all. We are extremely grateful for the dedication to themselves, their teammates and coaches, as well as to the program.
