  • 11-30-2020 Girls Basketball Lose in Overtime to 5A Legacy

The girls played Monday of Thanksgiving break, November 23rd, and lost a heartbreaker to Legacy in overtime. This game gave us experience and a ton of confidence that will pay off down the road in District play. The most exciting thing for me to see is we are scoring points and big points! Freshmen Calyssa Sevier had 26 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. Fizz Hutton played a great game with 10 points and 5 steals. Noelia Medina had 8 points and Cadee Martinez stepped up with 7 points. Mask had 5 points and 2 charges. Nagelin and Pacheco both had 2 points. The girls took a lot of positives away from this game to build on. When another Coach compliments you on your team it is always a great day. The girls are now 3-3 for the season. Go Pirates!!!

  • 11-30-2020 Girls Lose to Navarro

The girls turned around and Saturday morning played a very good Navarro squad and lost. This game was great for us because Navarro is a quick team so we had to run with them and in the 4th I could see our legs were tired from the night before. Navarro will make a run in the playoffs and for us to play the way we did against them says a lot about our team. This game we needed another player to get in double figures and that would of changed the outcome. Leading the team again was Freshmen Calyssa Sevier with 18 points and 7 steals. Noelia Medina and Cadee Martinez both had 6 points. Ramos had 4 points. Nagelin, Hutton and Mask all had 2 points. The girls are 3-2 on the season. Go Pirates!!!

  • 11-28-2020 Lytle Cross Country at State

On Monday, November 23rd, the lads and lady completed a season which was always one step away from never happening. Other States cancelled their seasons, postponed their seasons or had major changes for their season. On the 100th year of the UIL, the leadership of the organization fought for the athletes and gave them an opportunity to compete. Compete we did and Coach Ruiz in his guidance limited our venues of competition to four sites for 9 races.

The Junior Varsity boys hosted Stockdale last night, November 18th, in their third game of the season. We haven't had much practice time prior to this week, so we were looking forward to seeing improvement after a solid couple days practice. The JV boys did not disappoint. Behind a dominant defensive performance, the JV Pirates put the game out of reach from very early on. At halftime, the boys led 26-2 and continued their dominant performance for the last 2 quarters. The JV Pirates were led in scoring by Dustin Tumlinson with 12 points, Andres Cardenas with 11 points and Deven Caldera with 8 points.

  • 11-18-2020 Girls' Varsity Basketball Beat Marion

The girls traveled to Marion last night, November 17th, and picked up another road win beating Marion. We were up 29-27 going into the half. We are still trying to figure out why we start off the first half with the jitters because once settled in these girls can go the distance. We scored 38 points in the second half and outscored Marion 22-8 in the 4th quarter. Our defense continues to wear down our opponents with our 4 guards putting constant pressure from our press. Freshmen Calyssa Sevier had another 28 point showing with 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 5 steals. The beauty about her is she is so unselfish she would rather pass to her teammates then shoot the ball. Fizz Hutton had 10 points and 4 steals we are so glad she found Lytle she brings that extra defense we need. Kylie Mask had 9 points, 2 assists, 4 steals and 1 charge. Noelia Medina had 9 points. Alex Nagelin came off the bench and gave some valuable minutes scoring 2 points and getting 2 steals. Martinez had 4 points and Moreno and Ramos both had 2 points. Whitfield came off the bench and gave us some spark on the back of our press and scored 1 point. These girls are still building the chemistry and are getting better every day. With all the craziness in the world when we are on the court it all seems to disappear. The girls are now 2-1. Go Pirates!!

  • 11-18-2020 7th Grade Girls' Basketball Win Against Natalia

The 7th Grade basketball girls played their very first game on Thursday Nov. 12th against Natalia, in our home gym. The game was tied in the first at 4-4. Then at the 2nd we took the lead by one point. The girls did a great job, for this being their first game of the season. I’m proud to say that no one on our team took a shot at the wrong basket…lol In the 3rd the girls were still up by one point 13-12 and it was a close quarter. The girls got aggressive in the 4th and stopped Natalia from scoring, we managed to take the lead and scored 10 points in the last quarter, winning the game. Great job and team work.
