  • 3-15-2020 Lessons from the Rings Lytle Edition

The Lytle Meets were held before Spring Break. I really appreciate all the coaches and helpers who came together to accomplish this meet. This meet allows me to find those Junior High throwers who have gained enough skill from their throwing practice to qualify for the district meet. Since we host the Meet, we were able to throw all those who come to practice. The High School threw against everyone in the District except Jourdanton so we were able to see where we would rank in a District meet.

  • 3-4-2020 JH Track Meet in Bandera

Last Friday night, February 28th, our 7th and 8th Grade boys traveled to Bandera. Once again, the boys showed a great will to compete in all events. The effort and dedication these boys showed was very impressive. The 7th-grade boys got 3rd place overall and the 8th-grade boys got 6th overall. As a coach, I continue to be extremely proud of the way they compete and how flexible they are. If you see and/or know any of these boys, please congratulate them on a great job!! Our next meet is this Friday, March 6th in Lytle! Come and support your Pirates! Also, a very large shout out to Amadeus Trejo-Perez who showed tremendous sportsmanship and kindness as they allowed another young man to place in their respective race. Another shout out goes to Rowdy Harvey who showed similar kindness and sportsmanship in his race due to the previous action.

  • 3-4-2020 Varsity Boys BB Playoffs/ Awards

The 2019-2020 Basketball season has come to an end, and it was one for the ages. The boys lost this past Friday to 7th ranked CC London 78-63 in the area championship. The boys played hard and had CC London on the ropes the entire night but our Achilles heel all year caught up to us as the team missed 21 free throws. That was the difference maker. As I reflect on what these boys accomplished this year, I couldn't be any prouder; a winning overall record, 2nd place finish in district, a BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP which is preached in our program as a great year when you can win in the playoffs.

  • 3-3-2020 Softball vs Carrizo Springs

Last night, your Lady Pirates welcomed the visiting Carrizo Springs Wildcats to Lytle for a non-district game. It was a slow and shaky start offensively for the Pirates as they struggled at the plate trying to find their rhythm and timing. Carrizo was able to capitalize on an error early in the game, which allowed them to bring 1 runner across. The end of 1.5 innings, Carrizo led 1-0.

  • 3-3-2020 3-A Regional Preview at Scott Schreiner Golf Course

Great day for Lytle golf! Yesterday, March 2nd, the golf team competed in the 3-A Regional Preview at Scott Schreiner golf course in Kerrville. This was the 1st time our "complete" team played together. The team finished in 3rd place. John Martinez won the tournament with a 73. This victory was John's fourth High School tournament win. Bryson Duty shot a personal best 92 in just his 3rd competitive tournament. Khye Stewart also carded a 92. Jace Harris (121) and Hudson Mask (123) rounded out our team scores. It was nice to look out and see all of our players grinding out a round of golf. All golfers were well mannered and poised, not an easy feat when things aren't going your way on the course. We received many compliments on our boys and how they conducted themselves out there, a testament to their families.

  • 3-2-2020 Powerlifting Last Boys Qualifier

We went into this meet, the last one of the regular season, with no one on the board high enough to go to the Boys Regional Meet. With hard-work in preparation for the meet and some serious individual determination, some new personal best lifts by a couple of the young men, and Lytle now has two young men qualified for Regionals: Quen Syma & Rylan Wagner. Please congratulate these young men and give them a word of encouragement when you see them in the hall over the next few days.

  • 3-2-2020 Pirate Baseball at Jourdanton Tournament

This weekend the Lytle Varsity baseball team traveled to Jourdanton for our 1st tournament of the year. The ONE BIG THING we learned about ourselves at this tournament is that we have some FIGHT in us. All 4 games saw the Pirates falling behind early, buckle down and battle back.

  • 3-2-2020 Stockdale Tennis Tournament

This past week we traveled to Seguin, Texas to play in the Stockdale Tennis Tournament. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control the JV segment of the tournament was cancelled and instead of finding a replacement tournament (difficult to do) we moved all JV players up to varsity. Although many of them were scared at first to compete against varsity level players, our Pirates did very well and picked a few victories along the way. Coach Cameron and I are very proud of the progress of our athletes and look forward to the second half of the season. We travel this week to San Antonio for the Mighty Eagle Invitational. Go Pirates!

  • 3-2-2020 Lessons from the Rings - Bandera Edition

Welcome to March. Last week the Lytle Track teams competed at Bandera. With Fredricksburg, Devine, Hondo, Bandera and Antonian present it was like an area meet for my throwers. This week in both the Junior High and High School the boys threw better than the ladies. The ladies all did well and received marks but we only received one medal. Sarah Yruarte placed second in the JV girls Shot Putt with a throw of 26’2”. Bandera only gives medals for top three like in the Regional and State Track Meets. If you have a Bandera medal you threw well.
