  • 12-14-2021 Girls Win Rivalry Basketball Game at Natalia

December 14, 2021, the girls beat Natalia and brought back the trophy for the 6th year in a row winning 56-42. We had 16 points off transition compared to Natalia 3 points. We had 14 steals off of our press that helped us get some easy baskets. We struggled in the foul trouble column again last night. We have to be better at adjusting to the refs. It was a new starting lineup last night so we are still working on the chemistry of the team.

  • 12-13-2021 Girls Varsity Fall to Karnes City

The girls lost their Friday night home opener to Karnes City 49-42. We got into foul trouble early and that hurt our game plan of pressing. KC played a zone and even though we knew this we struggled scoring against it. We were 24-24 going into the half but the 3rd quarter was the decision maker they outscored us 11-4. We shot 10/34 and missed 10 free throws we have to better in those areas to win big games. The girls all showed up for practice Saturday and we finally have all 11 girls healthy. The girls are now 1-1 in District and have 14 games left. We will travel to Natalia next and play our 6th year against them for the Rivalry Basketball Game.

A big “Thank You” to Devine Acres for donating this beautiful tree to our Junior High/High School Like Skills classroom! They were gracious enough to let us go pick & cut down a tree and bring it back, along with an awesome hayride & help feeding their animal farm. Our students loved it! So courteous and welcoming to our staff and students. Thank you so much.

  • 12-7-2021 Watch the Video: Lytle Community Pep Rally 2021

It's that time of the year when we reflect on our successes, challenges, and learning opportunities. Our Community Pep Rally is one of our first opportunities to give students industry standard cameras who may have never touched one previously. They are nervous, very green, and they make mistakes, but it always turns out to be great learning. This video is proof that there is value in just getting them out there to see what they can do! It's a 'throwback' from a content standpoint because it just got done a couple weeks ago. Our video editor, Sarah Ytuarte, has never edited a video before - this is her first time using Adobe Premiere Pro - but a great example of student learning in our Digital Design program. If you know the students listed in the credits, tell them you're proud of them for jumping in and trying new things!

  • 12-5-2021 Lytle Girls Basketball Finish Off Pre-Season!

The girl’s finished the preseason off at the Navarro Tourney, Saturday, December 4, 2021. We went 2-3 for the weekend against some great competition and playing all schools above 3A classification. Coming off the loss in Hondo I was curious how the girls would respond and of course they came out fighting in each game.

  • 12-1-2021 Today's good mood sponsored by: Coffee!

To all the coffee lovers in the district - you HAVE to watch this video! For those of you who wake up human WITHOUT ground magical beans, watch the video because you'll love seeing yet ANOTHER good thing that Chef Stewart, Micah Berchelmann, Blanca Cantu, and their students have brought to Lytle High School and our district. You'll learn in the video that it's not just fancy coffee drinks -- hot teas, and hot cocoa are also served up by student baristas. Very soon, culinary pastry delights will appeal to the masses regardless of your drink preferences. Special thanks to Bri McDonald who designed the Jolly Roger Coffee Co. logo. This new business-in-a-school learning aligns with our plans to grow within the Collegiate Edu-Nation network.

  • 12-1-2021 Varsity Boys Basketball Recap

Last night, November 30, 2021, the Pirates took on San Antonio ISD YMLA HS and took a beating. We lost 71-54. This year no matter the pre-season or current state ranking we have been given, I made sure we could play as many city teams as possible to prepare us for a playoff run. Last night's beating humbled us all and proved we still have a lot of work to put in. Over the next few games, I will only be providing defensive stats as we get back to basics this afternoon on the defensive side of the ball. We've built success on pressing and playing defense and have gotten away from it.

  • 12-1-2021 Varsity Girls Defeated by Hondo

Last night, November 30, 2021, the girls traveled to Hondo and had a rough night all around. Hondo jumped on us early and we just never could get anything to go our way. It was not the team I know. We will take this loss tally it in the loss column and move on. We have the Navarro Tourney this weekend and start District on Tuesday. We will face some good competition this weekend to prepare us for next week. We did not have anyone in double figures last night. Sevier, the Martinez’s and Hutton’s all scored. Go Pirates!
