  • 10-28-2019 Area Results for Band

Saturday, October 26th, was the UIL Area E Marching Contest in Beeville. We were one of 31 bands in the Area that qualified for the contest. The band had a good run of their show with a few minor problems, but overall, I thought they did a great job. The judges seemed to agree, placing them 14th overall out of the highly competitive field. It was disappointing to come so close to being one of the 12 bands to advance to the finals that night but missing the finals by just two places is the closest we have ever come, and I must be pleased by that.

  • 10-15-2019 Band Advances to UIL Area Marching Contest

On Saturday, October 12th, the Pirate Band competed at the UIL Region XI Marching Contest in Hondo. The hard work the band students have put in through the heat since August paid off as they were one of only two 3A bands in our region to earn a 1st Division and qualify to advance to Area on October 26th in Beeville.

  • 9-30-2019 Band Results from Beeville

This past Saturday, September 28th, the band traveled to Beeville for our first marching contest of the year. We chose this contest because Beeville will be hosting the UIL Area Marching Contest for our 3A Region this year, and we wanted to take advantage of an opportunity to march there and get a feel for the stadium. Obviously, this was the thinking of many 3A directors as there were 20 3A bands there out of 28 visiting bands.

This afternoon the JH band traveled to Pleasanton for their UIL Concert and Sight Reading competition. The band was excellent on stage receiving a 1-2-2 rating which is a 2nd division overall. A few of the comments they received from their judges were “The students perform with a very mature tone” and “I really enjoyed hearing you! Congratulations! Fine group!”
