Lytle FFA and Ag

The Creed

  • I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former years.

I believe that to live and work on a good farm, or to be engaged in other agricultural pursuits, is pleasant as well as challenging; for I know the joys and discomforts of agricultural life and hold an inborn fondness for those associations which, even in hours of discouragement, I cannot deny.

I believe in leadership from ourselves and respect from others. I believe in my own ability to work efficiently and think clearly, with such knowledge and skill as I can secure, and in the ability of progressive agriculturists to serve our own and the public interest in producing and marketing the product of our toil.

I believe in less dependence on begging and more power in bargaining; in the life abundant and enough honest wealth to help make it so–for others as well as myself; in less need for charity and more of it when needed; in being happy myself and playing square with those whose happiness depends upon me.

I believe that American agriculture can and will hold true to the best traditions of our national life and that I can exert an influence in my home and community which will stand solid for my part in that inspiring task.

  • 11-16-2021 FFA District Creed Speakers

I am so grateful and proud of these students and the work they put into creed speaking. Khye Stewart (11th Grade) and Klarye Cook (8th Grade) are participants in sports and other organizations throughout the school and they still were able to dedicate their time and energy to FFA creed speaking. Last year we took a year off due to a pandemic but this year we came back!

  • 6-23-2021 A closer look at Lytle's Career and Technical Education...What happens in Ag???

In education, we all can get caught up in our own little corner of the school, busy and focused on our subjects or daily jobs. Here's a chance to venture into the world of Ag (and FFA) to see what learning looks and feels like in the shop, in the barn, and out in our back pasture. (Did you know we have a pasture and small herd of cattle?) Take some time to watch this video and learn something new and cool about our district and one of our flourishing CTE programs.

  • 3-5-2021 Lytle Ag Students in the Calf Scramble - 2021 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

During the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo several of our Lytle students had the opportunity to participate in the calf scramble to catch a calf. Those that catch are granted money to use toward a breeding animal project for the following year, enabling them to add to or build a herd/flock of their own. The students that did not catch can try another year. These videos were provided by parents, and if you watch closely, you'll see Rylynn, Rowdy, and Allison.

  • 3-5-2021 Major Stock Show Results

Many students have recently returned from attending different major stock shows (San Antonio Livestock Show, San Angelo, and Texas Elite). This is where the competition is its toughest as they are competing not only against students in Texas but also in other states. We are so proud of their dedication and hard work. They may not have all placed, but they all are still outstanding individuals in our minds.

  • 1-22-2021 Awesome results from the Atascosa County Livestock Show!

Our Lytle FFA program is growing and achieving more every day. Whether our students are showing an animal or building an ag mech project, they are choosing to take on a responsibility that will take time and dedication. Their time, effort, and sacrifices will not always guarantee a win, but with dedication comes many lessons learned. This investment and cooperation among families and peers toward reaching a common goal is a refreshing sight. It lends to a positive hope in the future of our program and in the students' lives. The learning is immeasurable.
