  • 4-15-2021 Pirate Tennis Earns Another Spot at Regionals

Yesterday, April 14th, the tennis team returned to Jourdanton for the last day of the District Tournament. The highlight of the day was a match up for the District 2nd place medal and a bid to the Regional Tournament. The 2nd place match was a battle between two Pirates, Zachary Bradshaw and Kyle Mueller and did they put on a great performance with one big shot after another and both boys playing their hearts out. In the end, Zachary pulled out the victory in a hard fought 3 set match 6-4, 2-6, 6-2, earning his spot for Regionals. Kyle will also attend Regionals as an alternate for his 3rd place finish.

  • 4-13-2021 Pirate Tennis Once Again Headed to Regionals

Yesterday, April 12th, the Pirate Junior Varsity and Varsity tennis teams traveled to Jourdanton to participate in the District tournament. It was a long hot and humid day but in the end several Pirates shined the brightest. We have many young JV athletes that gained valuable experience throughout the year and their progress and growth was visible yesterday as most of their matches were highly competitive. In the end we had two that stood out and earn a 3rd place finish in the mixed doubles division, congratulations to Chessa Harley-Mapes and Hector Anaya.

This past week the Varsity Tennis team traveled to Uvalde to play in their Pre-District tournament. Each year we look forward to this tournament as its usually one of the most competitive of the season, plus they guarantee 4 matches which allows for lots of court time to prepare for our District tournament.

  • 3-5-2021 Tennis at Jourdanton Tournament

Yesterday, March 4th, the tennis team traveled to Jourdanton to participate in their Varsity tournament. We moved up all Junior Varsity to Varsity for this week as the Junior Varsity division had too many teams. I was proud of our Junior Varsity athletes as they were a bit intimidated playing up against Juniors and Seniors but they all played well and had some great moments during their matches.

  • 2-8-2021 Pirate Tennis at Edison Tournament

This past week the Pirate tennis teams traveled to San Antonio to partake in the Edison Bears Invitational tournament. The Junior Varsity squad had a great day of tennis with many young athletes playing well into the tournament bracket. In the end, we brought home a couple of awards. Congratulations to Sophomore Elias Moore who won the consolation bracket finals and to Sophomore Chessa Hartley-Mapes and Freshman Hector Anaya for winning the consolation mixed doubles final. The Varsity played several matches vs some tough 5A and 6A schools and played extremely well during the duration of the tournament.
