Yesterday, November 8, 2023, was a very special day for Lytle High School as we watched Calyssa Sevier sign for a full Athletic Scholarship to Division 2 Midwestern State University. We have not had an athlete in the last 12 years be able to sign early on this day. Calyssa continues to make history and break records and her basketball season does not start until tomorrow.

10-10-2023 Varsity Volleyball at Natalia
In a heartbreaker on Friday, the Varsity team lost to Natalia in 4 sets. The Lady Pirates came out and beat Natalia by 8 in the first set. Then it went downhill with lots of errors and problems on the court. The girls lost 25-10, 25-12 and 25-14. It was a hard night for everyone that watched to see the girls fall apart after a good first set. The Lady Pirates have fallen out of 1st and are now tied for 3rd with Natalia. However, while they were down Friday, they are not out of it. With hard work this week and retrospection on the Natalia game, the girls can take out both Crystal City on October 10, 2023, and Hondo on Friday, October 13, 2023, to be back on top by the end of the week. We encourage you to come out and watch this team take on Crystal City in the first District rematch of the cycle. The girls lost in Crystal City but are ready to take them out tonight. In good news, on Friday night, October 6, 2023, both of the Junior Varsity teams took out Natalia's Junior Varstiy teams. The JV1 won 2-0 and the JV2 won 2-1. We are proud of the growth of our Junior Varsity teams and look forward to them competing on a larger stage next year!

It's been a great week for Lytle Volleyball. We took on Utopia this on September 22, 2023, as one last warm-up before we really get into District play. The Varsity beat them in 4 sets. Utopia has improved since last year and had a competitive team, taking one set from us before we put them away in the end 3-1, winning the match. All of this was in preparation for the game that was to come.

9-8-20203 Junior High Volleyball at Crystal City
On September 7, 2023 the Lady Pirates Junior High volleyball team traveled the long road to Crystal City. A special thank you and shout out to Armando Esquibel for providing us with an air-conditioned bus; once again, we found ourselves in another gym without air conditioning. Crystal City was very apologetic, they, like many, were dealing with hot temperatures and ACs were working overtime.

8-29-2023 High School Volleyball Recap
This is a three-day tournament, and we were placed in another pool on Friday morning, August 25, 2023, with YWLA, Kennedy and Cole. We made some lineup changes against our first opponent, YWLA, bringing up a Junior Varsity middle, so we could have a big front row and move one of our hitters to libero. While we lost a very close game, we saw some changes that we could make and decided to go against the norm, eliminating the libero position in our team. The result was an amazing and fun game where we dominated Kennedy and had a good time doing it. We went on to defeat Cole to end the day. We have 8 very strong players that play better when they can be on the floor together and 5 strong hitters that can also pass the ball. Eliminating the Libero opened possibilities we had never considered.
