  • 1-19-2021 Good things from the Lytle Pirates Football Team

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication that these two young men have shown. They spent the last 4 years in our program and are a wonderful example of what a good Pirate can be! We relied heavily on Kody and Robey this year and designed most of our offense to run behind them. They also anchored our defensive line as well on important short-yardage plays.

Please help us honor these football players, they were selected by our district coaches at our end of the year meeting. They played hard and represented our school will pride on and off the field. We are really proud of their accomplishments. There should be some All-State academic honorees as well, I will let you know when those teams get selected.

  • 11-17-2020 Football, Cheerleader and Trainer Fatheads magically appear at stadium just in time for Homecoming!

Sometimes what appears to be magic is very hard work disguised by fun, engaging challenges. Good news can be hard to come by, and I'm late in sending this out, but I didn't want to miss the chance to recognize some of Mr. Mumme's Commercial Photo Students and my Advanced Media students who pulled a rabbit out of the hat for our Homecoming Football Game back in October. In just a matter of two days, students worked together to complete photography, designs, printing and hanging of 43 fatheads at the stadium. Many used their lunch time, after school time and ANY time they could squeeze in to finish a big job. I was so proud of their hard work and diligence that I took some photos and videos and they put this short video together that showcases their beautiful results. Of course, I can't let this note go out without recognizing our 'Wizard Behind the Curtain' Ms. Dale Mather. She was sweet-talking, cajoling, and waving her magic wand over our poster printer to make sure it wouldn't jam, overheat, or simply die on us. I even overheard her offer it cheesecake if it would keep spitting out our print jobs. The district is blessed to have her bubbly spirit working to keep our students successful.

  • 10-28-2020 Varsity Football vs. Jourdanton

October 27th, Tuesday night football. Cold. Rainy. What a mess. I would be remised if I didn’t talk about our Seniors. Starting with the guy that we asked a lot of last night, Mark Cantu. Last night was his 30th Varsity game…..but his first taking snaps as our quarterback. We have been getting him snaps at practice since August 3rd as a just in case scenario. Last night was that scenario, fellow Senior Carson Aldridge was out as he had a season ending injury last Thursday at Cole. To ask an 18-year-old to step in and lead the offense in his last home game on two days of practice is a tough ask, he did a commendable job and we are all proud of his effort. Our offensive line and defensive line were led by Seniors.
