  • 9-14-2020 Varsity Football vs. La Pryor

Wow again. Our young men played amazing last Friday, September 11th. I couldn’t be any prouder of the way the guys were flying around and playing physical football. Our football team took out some frustration and kept the effort going all 4 quarters. We were able to score in all three phases of the game. We scored 7 offensive touchdowns, 1 defensive touchdown, and 1 kickoff return for a score. We are proud of our Seniors; they are truly leading the team and Friday night was a culmination of that. We are making progress on the backs of these Seniors, leading the younger guys and showing them The Way.

  • 9-14-2020 Lytle Cross Country at Bandera

It was long, hot Saturday for Coach Foster and I in Bandera. We are still in Cross Country Meet shape where we are used to going till noon, not past 2:30 pm, like it did this weekend. But it was well worth it, the Varsity boys captured 1st, the JV boys lost on a tiebreaker, the sophomore girls had a good Meet and our Junior High finally got to compete.

  • 9-11-2020 JV Football vs Somerset

Due to a last-minute schedule change, the Lytle JV football team traveled up the road to face Somerset. Somerset was a much bigger team with many more players than we had. Our boys, however, welcomed the challenge to take on this 5A team. The boys played extremely well throughout the night. The offense and defense were once again led by Jake Guevara. Mario Diaz had some good strong runs up the middle. The offensive line opened up some nice holes for the running backs to get through and they didn't quit at any point. The defense played well given the circumstances and had no time to game plan against their opponent. They rallied together and showed great determination and grit. Our defense made a lot of great open-field tackles and some nice plays in the secondary. The final score ended up being 42-6 Somerset. Our lone touchdown came on a goal-line run by Jake Guevara, after he intercepted a pass and ran the ball into the red zone. It is a privilege to be able to coach these young men week in and week out! We will continue to work hard and persevere every day!
