  • 8-12-2022 Bus Fire on First Day of School Shows Lytle Staff is Ready to Spring into Action

There's always a hiccup or two on the first day of school, but a lost schedule, homesick kids, or spilled milk are pretty routine to handle. Now a bus catching on fire...Well that's big. But at Lytle ISD, our staff in every department know their number one job is to take care of our kids. And this is why a bus catching fire turns out to be a good news story.

  • 6-16- 2021 A Lytle ISD Bus Ride is a Birthday Wish Come True!

Three-year-old Morgan and his family made a special visit to our bus barn recently to take a school bus ride with Mr. William Cross, Director of Operations. This future Pirate's bus ride adventure is an extension of Lytle ISD's strong commitment to providing enrichment and positive learning experiences for parents, families, and students in our community. Watch this wonderful story and be sure to thank our bus drivers and all who work to keep our buses running for the kids in our community. It's our youngest Pirates who are excitedly waiting for the day when they'll get to ride a bus to Lytle Primary school for the first time!

  • 2-22-2021 Superintendent Smith Thanks Staff for Working Hard During Ice Storm

I am sure you are just as happy as I am to be able to return to work and see the kiddos again. Last week was a challenge for everyone especially some of our operations folks. I would like to ask you to join me in thanking those that really went above and beyond. At the risk of leaving someone out, I am going to mention some of our heroes.

Over the winter break, we serviced and cleaned all air purifiers throughout the district and they are ready for the next round of school. If for some reason we may have missed 1 or 2 out of the over 200 that are in service just let me know and I will get it taken care of.

  • 3-8-2019 Operations Department VFW Recognition

I wanted to share the following information as I am very proud of our operations department. Last night the operation department was recognized by the Lytle VFW and awarded the community service award for our service to the school and community. Mr. Larry Sanders is the chief of the Lytle VFW and he asked me to select four members of the operations department to be recognized by the Lytle VFW, this was not an easy task as all operations staff members are deserving. Please see the attachment for a picture of the honorees and see the information below regarding how important these members of our operations department are to me and our schools. I would have liked to take and have had the entire operations department recognized. However, I couldn’t sneak sixty-four staff members in the door. Maybe next year. This being said, all of my operations staff members from the mechanics, bus aides, and custodians are very important to me and do amazing things for our schools, staff, and students every day. It is my pleasure and honor to be their director and serve Lytle ISD. If you happen to see any of our operations guys and gals around, please pat them on the back and say thank you for what they do.

  • 3-2-2018 Manuel Carrillo Retires After 20 Years of Employment with Lytle ISD Operations

Manuel has been with our district for 23 years. He first started as a volunteer and after 2 years, he was hired. Manuel had worked for many years as an over the road truck driver so he was brought in as a bus driver and a general maintenance crew. Over the years, Manuel has served as the standard for our athletic clocks at the baseball/softball fields as well as the football field. He is truly a pirate at heart and one of the districts most loyal athletics supporters.
